If you follow this blog or have ever heard me speak about music you already know that I’m fascinated with the process of influence and borrowing in concert music and art in general. And as an avid hip hop listener, I’m especially interested in the sampling and reprocessing of recorded music and sound as an artistic method.

So naturally I was delighted to discover not one but two hip hop/electronica projects based on Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Tettix’s Rites [via Yes Yes Y’All] is a particularly in-depth sampling adventure – a recasting of the entire piece, in full electronica mode.
