Adding to a string of recent discoveries related to Mozart are two newly authenticated works unveiled in Salzburg today. The keyboard pieces – written around 1764 in a teaching notebook used by Mozart’s father Leopold – include the solo part of a complete concerto movement and a fragmentary prelude. The discoveries by the International Mozarteum Foundation offer further insight into the nature of Mozart’s childhood and the extent of his compositional skills prior to the age of 10.
