This NYT opinion piece by James Kaplan suggests ‘the quality that hip-hoppers seem to find most enviable in Sinatra is his air of stylish menace,’ but I prefer the notion that Ol Blue Eyes’ influence has more to do with his approach to song – ‘breath control, diction, deep study of the lyric.’
